Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Chemicals and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.03%, while the MDAX index added 0.54%, and the TecDAX index added 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG), which rose 3.32% or 2.480 points to trade at 77.290 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 2.65% or 1.660 points to end at 64.370 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was up 1.93% or 1.470 points to 77.580 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 2.07% or 0.205 points to trade at 9.700 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.19% or 0.40 points to end at 33.30 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 0.81% or 0.051 points to 6.263.
The top performers on the MDAX were DMG Mori AG (DE:GILG) which rose 3.28% to 44.760, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was up 2.85% to settle at 54.033 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which gained 2.73% to close at 49.930.
The worst performers were Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 3.36% to 12.510 in late trade, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which lost 2.91% to settle at 11.865 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 2.33% to 31.600 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 18.44% to 44.090, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 4.23% to settle at 24.510 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which gained 4.19% to close at 53.450.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 1.89% to 42.400 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 1.75% to settle at 41.38 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 0.88% to 39.040 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 617 to 292 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.16% to 18.44.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 2.67% or 35.05 to $1277.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $48.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.24 to trade at $51.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.1185, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.8779.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 96.16.
