Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.60%, while the MDAX index added 0.66%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which rose 2.46% or 0.390 points to trade at 16.250 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.78% or 0.235 points to end at 13.455 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 1.62% or 0.295 points to 18.495 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which lost 1.66% or 1.420 points to trade at 84.320 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 0.79% or 0.950 points to end at 119.150 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 0.30% or 0.040 points to 13.460.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 5.29% to 5.05, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was up 2.56% to settle at 98.130 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which gained 1.92% to close at 66.460.
The worst performers were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 4.30% to 69.000 in late trade, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which lost 0.81% to settle at 39.165 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 0.76% to 38.980 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which rose 17.50% to 0.047, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 2.17% to settle at 12.940 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 1.97% to close at 57.920.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 1.17% to 9.650 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 1.07% to settle at 39.00 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 0.90% to 48.050 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 508 to 246 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.28% to 14.14.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1238.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.33% or 0.18 to hit $53.96 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.29 to trade at $56.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.0620, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8522.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 100.85.
