Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.44% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.32%, and the TecDAX index added 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11), which rose 1.70% or 1.40 points to trade at 83.86 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.56% or 0.230 points to end at 14.930 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 1.32% or 0.210 points to 16.165 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 1.73% or 0.152 points to trade at 8.651 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 0.63% or 0.120 points to end at 19.030 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) shed 0.47% or 0.190 points to 40.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which rose 2.10% to 32.375, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 2.02% to settle at 50.190 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 1.81% to close at 81.110.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 2.34% to 35.870 in late trade, Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which lost 1.53% to settle at 34.805 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was down 1.49% to 15.220 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 2.13% to 57.090, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 2.03% to settle at 40.010 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 1.97% to close at 51.770.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 2.85% to 116.05 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 1.61% to settle at 48.545 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 1.47% to 12.415 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 246 and 24 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.01% to 14.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.31% or 3.85 to $1251.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.86% or 0.90 to hit $49.27 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.73% or 0.89 to trade at $52.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.0755, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8670.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 99.90.
