Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.05% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.10%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.33% or 0.395 points to trade at 17.335 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 1.40% or 2.25 points to end at 163.40 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 1.02% or 0.170 points to 16.810 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN), which lost 1.05% or 0.970 points to trade at 91.190 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 1.05% or 0.076 points to end at 7.154 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) shed 0.73% or 0.680 points to 92.450.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 3.13% to 53.710, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 2.66% to settle at 44.73 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 2.40% to close at 100.10.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 2.65% to 36.250 in late trade, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which lost 2.62% to settle at 31.570 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 2.07% to 70.900 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 5.74% to 4.787, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 2.01% to settle at 54.940 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 1.99% to close at 18.495.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 2.45% to 13.560 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which lost 0.93% to settle at 40.555 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 0.93% to 41.495 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 477 to 261 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.14% to 13.50 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.13% or 1.63 to $1265.57 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.63% or 0.31 to hit $49.87 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.06 to trade at $52.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.0875, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8474.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 99.09.
