Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Food & Beverages and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.95%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.93%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 4.58% or 9.60 points to trade at 219.00 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 3.14% or 0.76 points to end at 24.97 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was up 2.88% or 6.20 points to 221.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p), which lost 1.13% or 0.94 points to trade at 82.36 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) declined 0.56% or 0.16 points to end at 28.35 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) shed 0.18% or 0.16 points to 88.38.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 13.91% to 8.35, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which was up 5.49% to settle at 76.80 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which gained 2.79% to close at 81.10.
The worst performers were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which was down 3.66% to 5.78 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 1.37% to settle at 5.03 and Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which was down 0.78% to 44.70 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 13.91% to 8.35, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was up 4.58% to settle at 219.00 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 3.34% to close at 31.60.
The worst performers were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was unchanged 0.00% to 22.89 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which unchanged 0.00% to settle at 20.10 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which was up 0.06% to 38.83 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 434 to 171 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.11% to 16.81.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.85% or 19.90 to $2,366.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.26% or 0.21 to hit $80.92 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.30 to trade at $85.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 105.26.
