Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.72%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.57%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 5.05% or 11.70 points to trade at 243.40 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) added 2.97% or 0.98 points to end at 34.03 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 2.96% or 0.84 points to 29.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG), which lost 1.05% or 1.40 points to trade at 131.96 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) declined 0.74% or 0.11 points to end at 15.32 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) shed 0.61% or 1.50 points to 245.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 4.16% to 2.23, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was up 4.10% to settle at 39.83 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which gained 3.77% to close at 83.62.
The worst performers were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was down 5.51% to 133.70 in late trade, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which lost 2.33% to settle at 5.79 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 1.79% to 9.33 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which rose 5.52% to 68.80, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was up 5.05% to settle at 243.40 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which gained 4.35% to close at 28.28.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 1.79% to 9.33 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 1.62% to settle at 36.36 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was down 0.43% to 41.74 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 388 to 214 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.95% to 13.30.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.90% or 45.20 to $2,424.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.51% or 0.42 to hit $82.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.31 to trade at $85.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 104.11.
