Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Personal Goods, Leisure Goods and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 2.06% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 2.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which rose 1.03% or 0.47 points to trade at 46.68 at the close. Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO) added 0.13% or 0.04 points to end at 27.70 and ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) was unchanged 0.01% or 0.00 points to 7.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Renault SA (PARIS:RENA), which lost 4.67% or 3.68 points to trade at 75.18 in late trade. Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA) declined 4.00% or 0.127 points to end at 3.045 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PARIS:VIE) shed 3.95% or 0.815 points to 19.840.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsen (PARIS:IPN) which rose 2.01% to 62.02, Technip (PARIS:TECF) which was up 1.03% to settle at 46.68 and Elior (PARIS:ELIOR) which gained 0.33% to close at 18.16.
The worst performers were Natixis (PARIS:CNAT) which was down 5.28% to 5.884 in late trade, Nexans (PARIS:NEXS) which lost 5.12% to settle at 34.82 and Rubis (PARIS:RUBF) which was down 4.88% to 64.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 682 to 140 and 44 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.67% to 23.97 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 2.09% or 23.60 to $1151.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.34% or 0.14 to hit $41.41 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.23 to trade at $46.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.1201, while EUR/GBP rose 0.75% to 0.7144.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.47% at 95.97.
