Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.91%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD), which rose 3.02% or 2.96 points to trade at 101.10 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) added 0.77% or 0.11 points to end at 13.74 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) was up 0.65% or 0.13 points to 20.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which lost 4.31% or 4.13 points to trade at 91.67 in late trade. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) declined 2.72% or 4.78 points to end at 171.22 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) shed 2.10% or 0.68 points to 31.75.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 7.60% to 38.85, Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was up 4.61% to settle at 1.54 and SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which gained 3.76% to close at 27.60.
The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 7.93% to 3.89 in late trade, Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which lost 6.82% to settle at 11.17 and JC Decaux SA (EPA:JCDX) which was down 6.57% to 14.64 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 264 to 217 and 78 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.87% or 29.61 to $3,393.19 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.34% or 0.79 to hit $58.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.38% or 0.86 to trade at $61.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 99.39.
