Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.72% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR), which rose 1.96% or 2.68 points to trade at 139.38 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 1.81% or 0.84 points to end at 47.16 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was up 1.14% or 0.17 points to 14.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AXA SA (EPA:AXAF), which lost 4.31% or 1.45 points to trade at 32.21 in late trade. Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) declined 3.48% or 0.89 points to end at 24.55 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) shed 2.37% or 0.58 points to 23.87.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 79.99% to 1.01, Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which was up 3.76% to settle at 32.30 and Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which gained 3.03% to close at 2.59.
The worst performers were Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was down 6.06% to 78.30 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which lost 4.38% to settle at 2.93 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) which was down 4.31% to 32.21 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 309 to 181 and 96 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.71% or 18.66 to $2,664.96 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.49% or 0.34 to hit $68.43 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.38 to trade at $71.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.90% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.99% at 105.90.
