Trump slaps 30% tariffs on EU, Mexico
Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.36% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which rose 1.64% or 0.79 points to trade at 48.82 at the close. Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) added 1.39% or 2.24 points to end at 162.98 and Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) was up 1.33% or 0.50 points to 38.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which lost 13.61% or 12.90 points to trade at 81.86 in late trade. Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) declined 2.40% or 2.04 points to end at 82.81 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) shed 2.35% or 4.34 points to 180.66.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES (EPA:SESFd) which rose 5.17% to 5.49, Ayvens SA (EPA:AYV) which was up 4.15% to settle at 9.03 and Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which gained 3.55% to close at 47.88.
The worst performers were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) which was down 13.61% to 81.86 in late trade, Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which lost 4.42% to settle at 28.96 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which was down 4.18% to 4.79 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 289 to 201 and 83 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.11% or 3.91 to $3,410.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.45% or 1.06 to hit $72.21 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.37% or 1.05 to trade at $75.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 98.09.
