Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.56%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP), which rose 6.30% or 21.55 points to trade at 363.40 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) added 3.45% or 0.46 points to end at 13.66 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) was up 3.31% or 5.44 points to 169.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN), which lost 2.78% or 5.70 points to trade at 199.60 in late trade. Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) declined 1.64% or 1.54 points to end at 92.12 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) shed 0.76% or 0.66 points to 85.92.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) which rose 6.30% to 363.40, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which was up 3.93% to settle at 194.50 and Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) which gained 3.83% to close at 2.57.
The worst performers were Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which was down 13.87% to 10.00 in late trade, Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which lost 12.39% to settle at 3.62 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 4.97% to 3.73 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 244 to 236 and 100 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.03% or 1.09 to $3,426.39 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.93% or 1.83 to hit $64.24 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.49% or 1.65 to trade at $67.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.46% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 98.36.
