Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Cement, Auto and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were San Chih (TW:3579), which rose 9.97% or 1.45 points to trade at 16.00 at the close. Bright Led (TW:3031) added 9.96% or 0.79 points to end at 8.72 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) was up 9.91% or 0.43 points to 4.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.84% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.10 in late trade. China Tv (TW:9928) declined 7.63% or 0.45 points to end at 5.45 and Hota Ind (TW:1536) shed 3.62% or 5.50 points to 146.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 562 to 177 and 116 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.15% or 0.56 to $49.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.18% or 0.58 to hit $49.75 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.58% or 7.55 to trade at $1287.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.46% to 32.227, while TWD/CNY rose 0.44% to 0.2046.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.55% at 93.78.
