Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.99% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 3.84% or 0.62 points to trade at 16.89 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 3.29% or 0.259 points to end at 8.142 and NN Group (AS:NN) was up 2.44% or 0.76 points to 31.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vopak (AS:VOPA), which lost 1.39% or 0.59 points to trade at 41.71 in late trade. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 0.49% or 0.24 points to end at 49.23 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) shed 0.32% or 0.10 points to 31.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 44 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 15.59% to 13.47 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.51% or 0.75 to $50.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.25% or 0.66 to hit $53.66 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.39% or 4.65 to trade at $1172.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.31% to 1.0614, while EUR/GBP fell 0.94% to 0.8438.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.89% at 101.17.
