Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Energy, REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were BROOKFIELD ASSET MANAGEMENT LTD (TSX:BAM), which rose 3.72% or 2.92 points to trade at 81.34 at the close. Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd . (TSX:AEM) added 3.55% or 4.06 points to end at 118.32 and Kinaxis Inc (TSX:KXS) was up 3.23% or 5.54 points to 177.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which lost 9.32% or 9.92 points to trade at 96.49 in late trade. BRP Inc (TSX:DOO) declined 6.00% or 4.28 points to end at 67.00 and Linamar Corporation (TSX:LNR) shed 5.61% or 3.56 points to 59.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 598 to 333 and 105 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.28% to 10.81.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.61% or 16.10 to $2,658.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.42% or 0.29 to hit $68.65 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.29 to trade at $72.19 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.52% to 0.71, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.44% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 106.84.
