Britain allows Huawei limited role in 5G networks

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain will allow Chinese telecoms giant Huawei [HWT.UL] a limited role in building its 5G networks, the government said on Tuesday.

It said high-risk vendors would be excluded from the sensitive core of networks, and there would a 35% cap on their involvement in the non-sensitive parts.

The United States wanted Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ban Huawei completely, arguing that Beijing could use the company's equipment to steal Western secrets. Huawei has denied any involvement in espionage.

Well, this being Chinese I doubt it will work properly or even for a long period.
This is crazy!
whatever the case, no one supplier should be used for an entire infrastructure. The infrastructure should be limited to non critical areas and locations. Domestic contractors should always be used for high security developments due to accountability issues.
Depends if they have the tech know how
I believe using huawei gears will hinder their US NSA abilities to spy. They can't utilise their spy tools on foreign hardware. Isn't that a great news?
Telling others that Huawei is spying for the Chinese government while their own US NSA actively spying their targets. What a BS ***
If the police had you under surveillance for suspecting you of raiding banks, you wouldn't go out and raid one in front of them. Like wise with Huawei. Without any evidence/proof of what secrets they have stolen it sounds like a typical Trump tactic of accusing someone of doing something without saying what.
Yeah, but how would you know that the police had you under surveillance?
British finally growing a pair. Congrats!!
Well done for not submitting to unproven USA propaganda. I hope that Huawei truthfully reported its non-spying intentions.
