Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3), which rose 3.83% or 1.12 points to trade at 30.35 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 3.46% or 0.74 points to end at 22.10 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 3.28% or 1.00 points to 31.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which lost 2.60% or 0.35 points to trade at 13.11 in late trade. Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) declined 1.97% or 0.26 points to end at 12.94 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) shed 1.74% or 0.53 points to 29.86.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 226 to 161 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 17.20% to 29.56 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.96% or 12.38 to $1276.72 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.83% or 0.41 to hit $49.21 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.81% or 1.08 to trade at $132.02 .
USD/BRL was down 0.71% to 3.1260, while EUR/BRL rose 0.62% to 3.3971.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.75% at 98.91.
