Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.54% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 7.00% or 1.06 points to trade at 16.21 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 6.99% or 2.30 points to end at 35.20 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was up 6.24% or 0.88 points to 14.98 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 31.34% or 2.73 points to trade at 5.98 in late trade. RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) declined 10.94% or 0.97 points to end at 7.90 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) shed 6.23% or 0.71 points to 10.69.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 301 to 111 and 34 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.23% to 43.89.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.50% or 6.31 to $1259.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.75% or 0.38 to hit $51.05 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.14% or 1.50 to trade at $130.52 .
USD/BRL was up 0.59% to 3.2733, while EUR/BRL rose 0.88% to 3.6795.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 96.86.
