Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.33% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 2.99% or 0.73 points to trade at 25.15 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 2.91% or 1.20 points to end at 42.40 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) was up 2.23% or 0.17 points to 7.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which lost 4.68% or 0.65 points to trade at 13.25 in late trade. Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) declined 4.04% or 0.77 points to end at 18.31 and Duratex SA (SA:DTEX3) shed 3.67% or 0.30 points to 7.87.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 181 to 97 and 6 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.31% to 28.99.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.11% or 1.30 to $1205.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.30% or 0.79 to hit $59.93 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.47% or 1.90 to trade at $127.15 .
USD/BRL was up 1.88% to 3.0951, while EUR/BRL rose 0.97% to 3.4102.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.80% at 96.23.
