Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 8.99% or 5.37 points to trade at 65.12 at the close. Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) added 4.07% or 1.63 points to end at 41.69 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was up 3.00% or 0.43 points to 14.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which lost 9.29% or 0.13 points to trade at 1.27 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:VALE5) declined 7.87% or 1.46 points to end at 17.09 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) shed 6.39% or 1.44 points to 21.11.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 169 to 111 and 3 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.68% to 32.63.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.81% or 9.80 to $1204.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.62% or 1.50 to hit $58.55 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.05% or 1.45 to trade at $139.15 .
USD/BRL was up 0.81% to 2.9564, while EUR/BRL rose 1.77% to 3.2863.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.92% at 95.31.
