Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which rose 8.56% or 0.920 points to trade at 11.670 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 4.20% or 1.79 points to end at 44.44 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was up 4.03% or 0.34 points to 8.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which lost 5.25% or 1.16 points to trade at 20.95 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 4.08% or 0.95 points to end at 22.33 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) shed 3.90% or 0.40 points to 9.86.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 160 to 111 and 11 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.49% to 30.76.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.79% or 9.30 to $1192.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.62% or 1.55 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.21% or 1.62 to trade at $135.88 .
USD/BRL was down 1.43% to 3.0173, while EUR/BRL fell 0.95% to 3.3823.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 94.70.
