Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumption, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which rose 7.41% or 0.58 points to trade at 8.41 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE5) added 5.03% or 0.76 points to end at 15.88 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was up 3.00% or 0.17 points to 5.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which lost 5.26% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.540 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 5.25% or 0.84 points to end at 15.16 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 4.99% or 0.570 points to 10.850.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 155 to 121 and 6 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.95% to 34.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.57% or 6.80 to $1192.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.28% or 1.19 to hit $53.09 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.04% or 0.05 to trade at $134.15 .
USD/BRL was down 2.00% to 3.0606, while EUR/BRL fell 1.21% to 3.2601.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.73% at 99.01.
