Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 6.19% or 0.38 points to trade at 6.52 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 3.14% or 0.360 points to end at 11.810 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 2.78% or 1.04 points to 38.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3), which lost 15.94% or 0.110 points to trade at 0.580 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.17% or 0.20 points to end at 4.60 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) shed 2.94% or 0.41 points to 13.54.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 138 to 135 and 6 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.43% to 34.37 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.64% or 7.80 to $1202.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 5.70% or 3.08 to hit $50.91 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 4.38% or 6.22 to trade at $135.75 .
USD/BRL was down 2.53% to 3.0505, while EUR/BRL fell 2.80% to 3.2909.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 98.25.
