Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 3.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which rose 1.18% or 0.56 points to trade at 47.85 at the close. Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3) fell 0.46% or 0.40 points to end at 86.46 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was down 1.26% or 0.68 points to 53.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which lost 7.42% or 0.83 points to trade at 10.35 in late trade. Via Varejo SA (SA:VVAR3) declined 6.91% or 0.39 points to end at 5.25 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) shed 6.43% or 0.43 points to 6.26.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 306 to 126 and 32 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.74% to 33.69.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.62% or 8.20 to $1311.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.63% or 0.34 to hit $54.00 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.43% or 0.45 to trade at $105.30 .
USD/BRL was up 0.82% to 3.6995, while EUR/BRL rose 0.41% to 4.2046.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 96.140.
