Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Electric Power, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.09% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Hypera SA (BVMF:HYPE3), which rose 3.32% or 0.60 points to trade at 18.65 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (BVMF:SUZB3) added 2.72% or 1.62 points to end at 61.24 and IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) was up 2.42% or 0.91 points to 38.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3), which lost 19.05% or 0.08 points to trade at 0.34 in late trade. Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) declined 9.34% or 0.34 points to end at 3.30 and Brava Energia SA (BVMF:BRAV3) shed 7.67% or 1.59 points to 19.13.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.33% to 34.12.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $2,633.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $70.10 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.28% or 0.92 to trade at $328.60 .
USD/BRL was up 8.42% to 6.71, while EUR/BRL rose 8.53% to 6.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 108.00.
