Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 2.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which rose 6.96% or 0.69 points to trade at 10.60 at the close. Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) added 6.48% or 1.46 points to end at 24.00 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) was up 5.76% or 0.92 points to 16.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which lost 7.81% or 0.46 points to trade at 5.43 in late trade. Rossi Residencial SA (SA:RSID3) declined 3.36% or 0.09 points to end at 2.59 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) shed 2.34% or 0.55 points to 22.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 186 to 88 and 2 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.09% to 36.16.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.27% or 15.20 to $1185.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.60% or 0.29 to hit $48.58 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 4.15% or 5.72 to trade at $132.18 .
USD/BRL was down 0.45% to 3.2332, while EUR/BRL fell 1.20% to 3.4950.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.71% at 98.31.
