Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electric Power, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which rose 5.36% or 0.18 points to trade at 3.54 at the close. Brava Energia SA (BVMF:BRAV3) added 4.21% or 0.95 points to end at 23.52 and Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3) was up 3.11% or 0.10 points to 3.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3), which lost 2.86% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.34 in late trade. Ambev SA (BVMF:ABEV3) declined 2.73% or 0.33 points to end at 11.74 and IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) shed 2.08% or 0.90 points to 42.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 544 to 409 and 55 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.55% to 32.83.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.38% or 10.05 to $2,621.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.76% or 0.54 to hit $71.14 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.19% or 3.85 to trade at $318.80 .
USD/BRL was down 0.30% to 6.18, while EUR/BRL fell 0.44% to 6.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 107.89.
