Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 3.41% or 3.65 points to trade at 110.65 at the close. MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) added 2.64% or 0.0580 points to end at 2.2530 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 2.13% or 0.670 points to 32.080 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which lost 7.14% or 1.000 points to trade at 13.000 in late trade. Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) declined 3.31% or 4.25 points to end at 124.05 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 2.84% or 20.00 points to 685.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 115 to 99 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.04% to 22.100.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.92% or 11.60 to $1244.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.77% or 0.33 to hit $43.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.25 to trade at $46.00 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.72% to 58.9685, while EUR/RUB fell 0.45% to 66.3550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.06.
