Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Energy and Information Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 2.52% to hit a new all time low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP), which rose 2.10% or 0.15 points to trade at 7.30 at the close. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) added 0.70% or 0.45 points to end at 65.13 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) was up 0.04% or 0.02 points to 50.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which lost 5.91% or 3.56 points to trade at 56.70 in late trade. CCC SA (WA:CCCP) declined 5.76% or 7.40 points to end at 121.00 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) shed 4.79% or 270.90 points to 5380.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 436 to 122 and 90 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.80% or 0.61 to $33.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.15% or 0.40 to hit $33.84 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.26% or 13.80 to trade at $1105.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.24% to 4.3365, while USD/PLN fell 1.02% to 3.9912.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 98.78.
