Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.66% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB), which rose 1.83% or 0.56 points to trade at 31.11 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 1.56% or 0.89 points to end at 58.12 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.30% or 0.19 points to 63.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which lost 4.74% or 0.27 points to trade at 5.39 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 3.20% or 0.41 points to end at 12.41 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 2.36% or 0.10 points to 3.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 127 to 53 and 3 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.47% to 22.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.60% or 1.07 to $40.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.49% or 0.66 to hit $43.19 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 2.16% or 22.90 to trade at $1084.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.92% to 1.0841, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.7186.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.79% at 98.59.
