Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were NN Group (AS:NN), which rose 8.77% or 2.14 points to trade at 26.55 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 3.53% or 1.93 points to end at 56.53 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 3.14% or 0.176 points to 5.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which lost 4.54% or 1.51 points to trade at 31.83 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 0.92% or 0.73 points to end at 78.93 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) gained 0.15% or 0.070 points to 46.785.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 126 to 36 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.92% to 17.41.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.76% or 1.29 to $48.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.81% or 0.90 to hit $50.75 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.53% or 7.10 to trade at $1355.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.8622.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 94.26.
