Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 3.99% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which fell 0.66% or 0.20 points to trade at 30.12 at the close. Sofina (EBR:SOF) fell 1.22% or 2.60 points to end at 210.60 and Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) was down 1.95% or 1.15 points to 57.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (EBR:ELI), which lost 7.26% or 6.10 points to trade at 77.90 in late trade. Groep Brussel Lambert NV (EBR:GBLB) declined 6.54% or 4.40 points to end at 62.90 and Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) shed 6.04% or 0.50 points to 7.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 91 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.30% or 39.61 to $2,995.79 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.16% or 1.34 to hit $60.65 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 1.38 to trade at $64.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.45% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 0.95% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 103.30.
