Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which rose 0.11% or 0.15 points to trade at 136.80 at the close. Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) fell 0.13% or 0.04 points to end at 31.87 and Proximus NV (EBR:PROX) was down 0.27% or 0.02 points to 7.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS), which lost 4.38% or 3.89 points to trade at 84.90 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.66% or 0.64 points to end at 23.40 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 2.13% or 0.52 points to 23.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 17 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.81% or 18.95 to $2,311.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.27% or 0.22 to hit $80.61 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.10 to trade at $84.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 105.68.
