Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (EBR:ELI), which rose 2.44% or 2.00 points to trade at 84.00 at the close. Sofina (EBR:SOF) added 2.40% or 5.80 points to end at 247.60 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was up 1.11% or 0.38 points to 34.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which lost 4.42% or 7.75 points to trade at 167.50 in late trade. D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) declined 2.87% or 4.90 points to end at 165.70 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) shed 2.87% or 1.65 points to 55.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 61 to 31 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.11% or 3.24 to $3,051.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.14% or 0.79 to hit $69.79 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.76 to trade at $73.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 104.03.
