Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans & Van Haaren NV (EBR:ACKB), which rose 0.99% or 2.00 points to trade at 204.00 at the close. Groep Brussel Lambert NV (EBR:GBLB) added 0.71% or 0.50 points to end at 70.80 and Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE) was up 0.67% or 0.11 points to 16.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which lost 2.95% or 0.98 points to trade at 32.26 in late trade. Sofina (EBR:SOF) declined 2.71% or 6.60 points to end at 236.60 and Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) shed 2.39% or 1.45 points to 59.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 32 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.71% or 22.39 to $3,168.39 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.39% or 0.28 to hit $71.48 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.18 to trade at $74.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 103.41.
