Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 5.93% or 1.42 points to trade at 25.38 at the close. D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) added 4.07% or 8.00 points to end at 204.80 and Elia (EBR:ELI) was up 3.38% or 2.85 points to 87.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC Groep NV (EBR:KBC), which lost 1.24% or 0.86 points to trade at 68.70 in late trade. Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE) declined 0.39% or 0.07 points to end at 17.99 and Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) gained 0.55% or 0.39 points to 70.92.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 28 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.25% or 33.40 to $2,708.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.18% or 0.83 to hit $70.93 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.72 to trade at $74.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.62% at 107.60.
