Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.87% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which rose 2.88% or 0.39 points to trade at 13.93 at the close. Elia (EBR:ELI) added 2.79% or 2.55 points to end at 93.95 and Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) was up 2.62% or 0.68 points to 26.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which lost 0.28% or 0.40 points to trade at 144.60 in late trade. Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) declined 0.12% or 0.50 points to end at 429.90 and Groep Brussel Lambert NV (EBR:GBLB) gained 0.29% or 0.20 points to 68.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 63 to 24 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.88% or 44.75 to $2,424.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.58% or 0.48 to hit $82.58 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.35 to trade at $85.43 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 104.11.
