Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.38% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (EBR:ARGX), which rose 3.50% or 16.40 points to trade at 485.10 at the close. Aedifica (EBR:AOO) added 1.34% or 0.85 points to end at 64.10 and Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) was up 1.06% or 0.70 points to 66.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which lost 4.60% or 3.50 points to trade at 72.55 in late trade. Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) declined 2.04% or 0.70 points to end at 33.58 and Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) shed 1.77% or 1.02 points to 56.74.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 49 to 42 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.22% or 6.00 to $2,683.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.10% or 1.50 to hit $70.06 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.60% or 1.19 to trade at $73.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 100.51.
