Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.31% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 3.08% or 1.17 points to trade at 39.17 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 2.77% or 0.66 points to end at 24.51 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was up 2.52% or 0.12 points to 4.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Safran SA (PA:SAF), which lost 6.26% or 3.71 points to trade at 55.52 in late trade. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) declined 1.95% or 0.95 points to end at 47.75 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) shed 1.15% or 0.75 points to 64.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Adocia (PA:ADOC) which rose 7.81% to 61.730, Euronext (PA:ENX) which was up 3.70% to settle at 37.57 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which gained 3.61% to close at 57.070.
The worst performers were Safran SA (PA:SAF) which was down 6.26% to 55.52 in late trade, Gemalto (AS:GTO) which lost 1.99% to settle at 64.01 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) which was down 1.95% to 47.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 454 to 210 and 133 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.78% to 21.68 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.22% or 15.40 to $1244.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.38% or 1.30 to hit $37.20 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.03% or 0.82 to trade at $39.57 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1094, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7751.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 96.62.
