Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Capital Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty declined 0.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 3.80% or 3.85 points to trade at 105.10 at the close. Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA) added 3.28% or 80.00 points to end at 2519.05 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was up 2.67% or 9.65 points to 371.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:REDY), which lost 3.38% or 146.10 points to trade at 4173.60 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 2.19% or 19.20 points to end at 856.25 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) shed 1.98% or 6.45 points to 319.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 3.75% to 105.05, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was up 3.28% to settle at 2518.25 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 2.70% to close at 371.45.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (BO:REDY) which was down 3.30% to 4172.95 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.87% to settle at 249.70 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was down 1.77% to 208.25 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 811 to 645 and 12 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 434 fell and 347 advanced, while 4 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 2.19% to 16.6225.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.24% or 2.80 to $1174.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.30% or 0.60 to hit $45.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.23 to trade at $48.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.23% to 65.172, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 73.9940.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.89.
