Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LISBON:SEM), which rose 3.22% or 0.3600 points to trade at 11.5350 at the close. Portucel (LISBON:PTI) added 2.66% or 0.0820 points to end at 3.1660 and Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) was up 2.56% or 0.0001 points to 0.0039 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT), which lost 1.37% or 0.1390 points to trade at 9.9710 in late trade. Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA) declined 1.17% or 0.01 points to end at 0.67 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) shed 0.41% or 0.0002 points to 0.0485.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 34 to 17 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for November delivery was down 1.50% or 0.73 to $48.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.83% or 1.31 to hit $45.05 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.70% or 7.90 to trade at $1132.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.1178, while EUR/GBP rose 1.19% to 0.7326.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.38.
