Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.47%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Bouygues SA (PARIS:BOUY), which rose 2.16% or 0.72 points to trade at 34.24 at the close. Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) added 1.21% or 0.23 points to end at 18.86 and Accor SA (PARIS:ACCP) was up 1.12% or 0.53 points to 47.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which lost 3.31% or 0.28 points to trade at 8.10 in late trade. Valeo SA (PARIS:VLOF) declined 2.91% or 3.90 points to end at 130.35 and Safran SA (PARIS:SAF) shed 2.26% or 1.46 points to 63.27.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Adocia (PARIS:ADOC) which rose 4.94% to 92.350, Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was up 4.76% to settle at 0.440 and Orpea (PARIS:ORP) which gained 3.72% to close at 68.79.
The worst performers were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which was down 7.67% to 4.48 in late trade, STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which lost 6.90% to settle at 6.805 and ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which was down 3.31% to 8.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 471 to 333 and 55 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.49% to 17.39.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.01% or 11.20 to $1092.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.08% or 1.06 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.64 to trade at $56.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.0888, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.6981.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 97.84.
