Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 3.81% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1909 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 2.70% or 0.0239 points to end at 0.9078 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 2.65% or 20.00 points to 775.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 4.41% or 7850 points to trade at 170250 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 2.25% or 0.730 points to end at 31.770 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) shed 2.12% or 0.0840 points to 3.8760.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 112 to 102 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.16% to 24.460.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.71% or 21.19 to $1257.59 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.95% or 0.46 to hit $49.12 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.59 to trade at $52.24 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.48% to 56.8441, while EUR/RUB rose 1.42% to 63.333.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 97.52.
