Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 2.54% or 1.01 points to trade at 41.02 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.31% or 0.18 points to end at 13.89 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.06% or 0.59 points to 55.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 2.19% or 1.54 points to trade at 68.86 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 2.05% or 0.42 points to end at 20.11 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) shed 1.81% or 2.15 points to 116.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 73 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.95 to $1321.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.13% or 1.00 to hit $48.05 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.79% or 0.88 to trade at $50.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1248, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8655.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 95.25.
