Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Construction & Engineering and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful Life Ltd (CM:ANTK), which rose 12.50% or 0.20 points to trade at 1.80 at the close. Indo Malay PLC (CM:INDO) added 11.85% or 169.40 points to end at 1599.00 and Laxapana Batteries PLC (CM:LITE) was up 10.43% or 1.20 points to 12.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL), which lost 11.74% or 2.70 points to trade at 20.30 in late trade. Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) declined 8.16% or 83.00 points to end at 934.00 and F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) shed 7.69% or 0.100 points to 1.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 99 to 72 and 63 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.04% or 0.47 to $45.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.94% or 0.44 to hit $47.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.42% or 5.55 to trade at $1336.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.07% to 189.815, while USD/LKR fell 0.43% to 145.545.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.16.
