Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 8.78% or 4.730 points to trade at 58.620 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.62% or 0.38 points to end at 23.59 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 1.54% or 0.475 points to 31.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 3.70% or 1.15 points to trade at 29.95 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 0.95% or 0.70 points to end at 72.78 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 0.12% or 0.03 points to 20.89.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 108 to 37 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.51% or 6.65 to $1316.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.26% or 0.55 to hit $44.17 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 0.60 to trade at $46.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1173, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8568.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.77.
