Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which rose 0.04% or 0.05 points to trade at 111.50 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) fell 0.24% or 0.025 points to end at 10.455 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was down 0.34% or 0.13 points to 38.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 2.15% or 0.32 points to trade at 14.36 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.91% or 0.910 points to end at 46.715 and Ageas (BR:AGES) shed 1.38% or 0.430 points to 30.645.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 104 to 34 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.48% or 6.45 to $1350.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.60% or 0.28 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.15 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1265, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8664.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 94.89.
