Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Santander (MC:SAN), which rose 1.74% or 0.069 points to trade at 4.025 at the close. Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) added 1.43% or 0.13 points to end at 9.43 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) was up 0.99% or 0.087 points to 8.903 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 3.98% or 0.189 points to trade at 4.554 in late trade. Gamesa (MC:GAM) declined 3.75% or 0.675 points to end at 17.325 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) shed 3.50% or 0.356 points to 9.804.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 93 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.65% or 21.30 to $1270.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.52% or 0.76 to hit $49.20 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 0.76 to trade at $49.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.1249, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7674.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 94.09.
