Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Communication and Internet sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Airmate (TW:1626), which rose 10.00% or 2.70 points to trade at 29.70 at the close. China Tv (TW:9928) added 9.94% or 0.54 points to end at 5.97 and New Palace (TW:8940) was up 9.94% or 1.60 points to 17.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Silergy (TW:6415), which lost 7.53% or 29.00 points to trade at 356.00 in late trade. Choice Develop (TW:9929) declined 5.00% or 0.60 points to end at 11.40 and Cub Elec (TW:2231) shed 4.82% or 17.00 points to 335.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 377 to 344 and 129 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.24% or 0.12 to $49.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.36% or 0.18 to hit $50.22 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.16% or 1.90 to trade at $1214.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 32.591, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2011.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.54.
