Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Transport and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.16%, while the ADX General index climbed 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which rose 1.96% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.040 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 1.72% or 0.020 points to end at 1.180 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 1.55% or 0.030 points to 1.960 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 4.69% or 0.120 points to trade at 2.440 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 3.21% or 0.032 points to end at 0.966 and Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) shed 2.60% or 2.00 points to 75.00.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which rose 4.65% to 2.250, Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which was up 3.07% to settle at 18.45 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 2.08% to close at 0.490.
The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 9.85% to 2.930 in late trade, Waha Capital (AD:WAHA) which lost 2.22% to settle at 2.200 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was down 2.00% to 0.490 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 15 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 8 fell and 7 advanced, while 12 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.08% or 0.04 to $53.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $55.80 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.39% or 4.75 to trade at $1237.85 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.27% to 3.9048.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 100.78.
