Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Hellenic Telec (AT:OTEr), which rose 10.00% or 0.65 points to trade at 7.15 at the close. Ellaktor (AT:HELr) added 8.72% or 0.130 points to end at 1.620 and Attica Bank (AT:BOAr) was up 7.69% or 0.004 points to 0.056 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which lost 16.00% or 0.080 points to trade at 0.420 in late trade. Jumbo (AT:BABr) declined 7.69% or 0.500 points to end at 6.000 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) shed 5.98% or 0.11 points to 1.73.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 37 to 37 and 2 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 2.32% or 27.30 to $1204.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.83% or 0.50 to hit $60.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.52 to trade at $64.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.65% to 1.1412, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.7181.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.56% at 93.95.
